Led by Dave Ellis, International Rugby Academy Skills Coach and founder of an internationally recognised colour coaching system, our philosophy is to keep it simple while developing a greater awareness of the requirements of a skill.

CONTRACT COACHING:
Ellis Rugby provide contract coaching services to clubs, schools and rugby organisations throughout the world. Led by Dave Ellis, International Rugby Academy Skills Coach, we''ll work with you to provide customised coaching to suit your level and requirements.
About Dave:
Dave''s ability to maximise skill development in players has meant he is in demand throughout the world as a contract coach/skills specialist.
- An experienced skills/backs coach who has worked with some of the best international coaches in the world and many highly skilled specialised coaches in their respective fields.
- Over 20 years experience in player skill development, working with both individual players and teams from grass roots to professional level.
- Experienced in working with international representative sides in the development of their individual programmes.
- Internationally recognised for the development of a unique coloured coaching system and aids designed to enhance progressive skill development.
- Experienced in creating an open environment which provides the players with the tools to understand how the smaller details of the game relate to the big picture and empowers players, encouraging them to take ownership.
- A strong background in coach education and coach development.
Contract Services:
Dave''s contract services can encompasses all aspects of player skill development, team coaching and coach education. He will work with your team''s coaching staff to co-ordinate skill development and develop a coaching strategy to assist you in realising your vision for your team.
Dave can work with your team in practical sessions to cover whatever topics you may require (for example):
- Basic pass
- Taking the ball into contact
- Defence skills
- Tackle and evasion skills
- Vision and decision making
- Building patterns of play
- Back attack
- Building team strategies
- Kicking skills
- Remedial coaching.
Recent clients include USA Rugby, Hong Kong Rugby Football Club and Investec Rugby Academy in South Africa.

MOBILE SKILLS CLINICS
- Rookie Clinics for players aged 13 -14 years
- Apprentice Clinics for players aged 15 -17 years
- Senior Clinics for players aged 18 and older

- Promising young players who have aspirations of a future professional career and want to get the edge over their competition.
Clinic Overview:
Limited to 30 players, the clinics focus on maximising individual skill development, identifying strengths and weaknesses in performance and providing strategies to enhance or modify technique.

INDIVIDUAL SKILLS ASSESSMENTS FOR PLAYERS:
Through video analysis we can look at each player as they run through a selection of basic skills and identify their strengths and weakness in technique.
- Basic Pass - long and short
- Contact
- Basic Defence
- Tackle
Skills Assessments are provided on CD (we are looking at on-line and device options) and include strategies to enhance or modify technique to maximise skill development. Dave can also offer remedial coaching.

COACHING RESOURCES:
We produce multimedia coaching resources, including the NZRU Skills and Drills Coaching CDs and personalised player analysis CDs for the International Rugby Academy, providing a tool for players and their coaches to maximise their ongoing development. The analysis CDs are also often used by players as a type of electronic CV.

PHOTOGRAPHY:
Dave''s skill as a sports photographer has enabled him to produce some remarkable images. (He also dabbles in landscapes!) His ability to anticipate the on-field play, combined with exceptional timing means the International Rugby Academy graduates usually leave the courses with stunning reminders of their time there.
